Haven’t had a chance to update my blog recently because of my new job as a graphic designer at T&T supermarket. Yes! I’ve finally found a design job!! ( I feel extremely blessed that I was able to find something this quick.)

T&T is Canada’s biggest Chinese Chain supermarket, currently owned by lablaw (superstore). They have more than 20 locations accross Canada. In about a month’s time I will be flying to Calgary for my Christmas holiday!
I am really looking forward to it right now, really can’t wait.
This year has been extremely busy so far because of the grad project.

Working on 4 projects at a times means I have to manage my time very very well.
My current arrangement is like this: 4 projects individually separated into 4 days.

I had a hard time finalizing what I wanted to achieve with each of these packaging.
But now I finally got some. (after 2 months of changing and refining)
I found that it especially helped after i started prototyping.
I was able to tell right away what attributes I liked and what I did not.

Along with my goals, I have also updated my visual board once again. (3rd time)

So! my grad project this year!

PACKAGING DESIGN!

this is the area that I would like to get into in the future.
My Goal to design a line of packagings. That has a heavy emphasis on structural form as well as sustainability.
While I do know that this is more graphics design related,
I do know that I am good with structural building
and I want to bring more of that into packaging design.

Can't believe a site that was built just this past summer already seems so out of date!

This is just a mockup from last month.
It has changed dramatically already,
but I will wait until I have finished the whole thing then post here.

I heard this from my eco teacher a few weeks ago.
She told us that "finally there are some people doing eco-friendly graphic design too!"

When I first her, I was very confused. How is it possible?
Then she showed us this font which uses empty dots in the middle.

It uses 30% less ink apparently.
And I just saw this on the news paper a few days ago.
Interesting.

A critique is suppose to help our classmates to take the project to the next level.
However what often happens at the end of a critique
is that some students would get absolutely defeated by the things that were said.

This program is specifically supporting the artists in the down town east side,

This one was the one they have selected.

It was good that they were quite pleased with the 2 concepts,
